My wife and I spent the day exploring locations to photograph in the Tremont Section of Smoky Mountain National. As we traveled down a gravel road she spotted a glorious dogwood tree on the opposite bank of a stream. We stopped and both commented that it may have been the most beautiful dogwood either of us had ever seen. Finding it made what was already a wonderful day even better. I returned that same evening and within and hour captured this image.
