I was out of bed at five in the morning checking weather from the window of my hotel room. What I saw was heavy snow, exactly what I had wished for. I entered Yosemite thirty minutes later about the time the snow ended. I knew if I was lucky I might get a couple of hours of good light with the snow still in the trees. The Three Brothers was my second stop and I was concerned about the amount of light combined with the bright snow. When I captured this photograph I wondered if the image might appear too blue. In the end, the light actually worked to my advantage and the angles present in this image makes it one of my favorites from a composition perspective. Within four hours most of the morning snow had fallen from the trees and the chance to capture this type of image was only a memory.
