On a typical shoot, I normally arrive on location an hour or more before the time I expect the best light. That allows me time to set up and double check everything before the best opportunities present themselves. On this occasion I was forced to act quickly because some of the best light I’ve ever seen happened this evening well before sunset. Incredible clouds drifted rapidly in front of Half Dome and an overcast sky added to the effect. I became a bit anxious knowing that this special moment may not last long. Fortunately it lasted about five minutes and by the time the clouds drifted from my view this image was mine.
