I had hired a Navajo guide who was spending the early morning with me in Monument Valley. One of our first stops was an area with expansive sand dunes. The sand was soft and I sunk in over my boots as I climbed a fifteen foot wall of sand to get to the area I was about to photograph. Once I reached the top of my climb I was astounded by the scale and unmolested beauty of what I saw. The ridges in the sand designed by days of wind were pristine and seemed endless. I asked the guide not to step any further as I stood and surveyed exactly where I wanted to place my tripod. The resulting image allows me to relive those very special moments.
