This stream cuts with precision though Spearfish Canyon. It is a great trout stream. A rule of mine is that I either take the fly rod or the camera, not both. Once I arrive at a location I intend to photograph I usually don’t think of fishing. However, if I’m out West or visiting some location such as Smoky Mountain National, I can’t get away from the thought of casting a fly at a big Brown or Rainbow. On this day it was all about photography and there was a slight hint of Fall in the air. The trees were just beginning to show signs of color. It would have been nice to have stayed in the Canyon another two weeks to see how all the color turned out.
