While traveling down the central coast of Oregon, I spotted what appeared to be the remains of an old pier. I turned my car around and headed back into the small town where I could access the area I wanted to explore. After parking, I walked a short distance before I encountered forty feet of some of the highest briars I have seen. It was clear this path through the thicket was not an option. After a few minutes of exploring I found a less treacherous path which took me directly to the spot I was looking for. I set up my gear and tried several different ideas to capture the image I sought. I enjoy black and white images as much as color and this image suited the black and white approach. As I made my way back to the car I imagined what the area might have been like 75 years earlier.
