I am very pleased to update you on a new and exciting project that I recently started. For the next few months I will be doing my best to photograph the islands of Sanibel and Captiva in a unique and memorable way. Over the past few weeks I have spent a considerable amount of time scouting interesting locations to photograph at sunrise and sunset. Although I have yet to have much success with the morning images, the evenings have yielded some good results. I have two images that I am beginning to seriously consider for production. More to come on that in a few weeks.
Included with this post is a picture of a friend I met during one of my evening sessions. The great white egret followed me down the beach and actually stood a few feet from me as I worked. It was fun having the company. You have to wonder what they might be thinking. My guess is it had something to do with sharing food. Apparently my tripod was mistaken for a funny looking fishing rod. They often hang around anglers expecting to feed on left over bait.
In the next few weeks I will be working on a significant departure from my regular landscape photography. I believe this new project will not only produce something exciting for me to add to my portfolio, but give me the ability to set my work apart from most who have photographed the islands. Once I get further into the project I will begin to share more with you.
I hope you choose to follow me on my island photography journey. Take care and have a Merry Christmas!
